The following is a newsletter article by Caroline on behalf of her two dogs, Mr. Post Thaw and Ms. Suspended in Time. They are from Gresham, OR.

"Despite my many cries for help over the past year, worsening pain and a horrible tumor in my rear hind paw, I was misdiagnosed for months by numerous vets (too much of a travesty to tell here...). My "parents", Kim and John, were beyond heartsick, frustrated and terrified. My son BlueBear was terribly sad, watching me worsen and become depressed and immobilized. By a miracle, Ilaria of Thera-Paw heard about my plight and directed me to Dr. Sean Aiken of the Animal Medical Center in NY. He promptly diagnosed me with malignant melanoma and performed surgery immediately to remove my entire rear weight-bearing paw pad. This saved my leg (others were insisting on amputation, saying I'd never be able to use the leg again) and my life. He removed the cancer not a moment too soon…and I will always think of Ilaria as my guardian angel. We knew it would be extremely difficult and painful for me to walk without my paw pad. However, Dr Aiken highly recommended Thera-Paw booties, and broke into a huge, heartwarming smile each time we spoke of our correspondence with Ilaria. Meantime, Ilaria gave me hope, encouragement and hugs from across the wires. And we learned about Thera-Paw booties. Fast forward a couple of months, and now, as you can see from my photo, I happily wear my bootie any time I am outside, which is often. Walks in the woods have always been my favorite thing in life, and for a while I had lost hope that I'd ever be able to walk at all. Now we simply and easily slip the fabulous, rugged (yet fashionable) bootie on, and I'm off with barely a limp! I spotted a grey heron last week from across a huge field, and before I knew it, I was off like a shot, galloping away with my ears in the wind and my tail wagging, happy in the comfort of my bootie! I'm able to traverse streams, puddles, rocky trails, mud, hot pavement - you name it, my bootie enables me to do it. Thank you, Thera-Paw, for my new leash on life, and for your heartfelt generosity and support. You can bet we are spreading the Thera-Paw word far and wide, in the hopes of helping other dogs."

"My history started in Florida. Upon my retiring from racing I suffered an injury in March, 2003 causing me to lose a weight baring toe on my left, hind, foot. Between the months March and September of that same year I developed a wart on the remaining pad area where I was missing my toe. In September of 2003, I met my "forever family" and by October I was presented with two "booties" to wear whenever we went outside. My first reaction to having "booties" on both of my hind feet, was to silently protest the activity of walking, by holding my head low, staring towards the ground in front of me, and ignoring the familiar command of "lets' go" when given to me by either of my people. In my attempts to communicate to my people my questions of "What am I wearing?" and "Why are you humiliating me?' regarding this new fashion statement they had deemed it necessary I make. We eventually compromised by trading in my look of wearing two "booties" while outside to my wearing just one. What a difference this "bootie" has made. While, I still have a wart that insists on reappearing from time to time on my left hind foot. When sporting my "Thera-Paw" bootie, (just one at a time please) I am an active, run when I please, retired racer, of age 5. I have now, learned when I am wearing my leash, heading to go outside, the donning of my "bootie" is sure to follow. Boy am I glad! Multiple pairs of my "booties" are kept in my car, my luggage, and even my dads car. You just never know when I may decide sporting two at once is the look for me."

Onyx is a Pet Therapy Dog and has not been able to do her regular visiting schedule due to a large corn on her left front paw. We had to completely stop her visits because the pain was causing her to limp and not put any weight on the paw. She loved going for visits and was even willing to limp, just to go out and visit patients at the local hospitals. Since receiving the Thera-Paw, she is back up to her regular schedule of visits and no limping. In the attached photo, she is seen taking a treat from a volunteer. The Thera-Paw has worked wonders. I would strongly recommend Thera-Paw to anyone and everyone that has a Greyhound with a toe or foot injury.

I am Switcheroo and was adopted by Brian after many years at the tracks. I found a home only to develop a corn that kept coming back even after many surgeries to remove it. I was always limping and thought my days of walking and running without pain was over. Brian than found Thera-Paw and the pain vanished. I was able to run, walk and play without pain. My retirement is a greyhound vacation. Thank you , Switcheroo

"Fritz was accidentally trampled as a puppy, leaving him with a severely damaged leg. His breeder had destined him for a lethal injection but the vet convinced him to give the puppy to us. He's now two years old and a steel plate keeps his leg straight. Unfortunately, because of nerve and tissue damage to his paw, he had to have a further operation, removing a toe, then shifting and grafting the back pad. Now, thanks to Thera-Paw, Fritz is no longer a prisoner in the kitchen. I can let him out to play knowing that his post-operative foot will be well-protected. At first I used the boot over a light bandage. Now he wears it with nothing underneath. It must be comfortable because he holds out his foot for me to put it on and he's never tried to chew it off. His paw is still a little tender but he can go outside and run around and I don't have to worry about damaging sensitive tissues. For Fritz, Thera-Paw is the passport to a normal life."

"Thank you Thera Paws. Polo's boots are a blessing. They work two-fold for us. First, they cushion his foot with the corn so he can walk a lengthy walk at a good pace (which prior to your boots he could not do). Second, he wears two (for perfect balance) and they are great supportive 'walking shoes' for his arthritic leg from a broken hock. Sometimes, as in this photo, we just forget to take them off and it does not faze him as you can see. He is very comfy with or without! Thera Paws have really improved the quality of Polo's life and he will be wearing them forever."

"Our lamb has frost damage on both rear feet, primarily at the hoof region. We want to save this lamb because he shows exciting potential as a breeding ram due to his coloring and horns. We have him under treatment for his condition and noticed that he was having difficulty moving around and walking. The results were really amazing, he started to follow the other lambs and his mother around the pasture and his posture is noticeably better. "Barney has suffered with corns on the pads of his right front foot for two years. He has been through surgery and acupuncture and has taken drugs to deal with the pain. "Thera-Paw is the best dog boot we have tried; thank you for developing it and making it available to dogs like Scoop (GoScoopGo was his race name. We call him Mr. Scoop, Scoop or Scoopus Maximus). Mr. Scoop lived at the kennel in Colorado for over 7 years and sometime during that time he got an injury to his paw that left it vulnerable. Whenever he walked, or even stood for a while, on hard surfaces he began to limp heavily. He had developed the habit of favoring that foot and sometimes he just gave up on the fun, sitting or laying down to take the pressure off his paw. "Our young beagle needed surgery for a tumor in his dew claw. We had to keep an Elizabethan collar on him all the time to prevent him from removing his bandages before we got our Thera-Paw dog boots. "I find Thera-Paw to be a very effective product. One of my dogs, Henry, was diagnosed with corns. He was very lame on all 4 feet and had to have surgery twice. After the second round of surgery, and with little improvement in his condition, I found out about a product called Thera-Paw. I decided to give it a shot since nothing else worked and Henry was still very lame. I bought the Thera-Paws and saw improvement in his gate from day one. As soon as I put the Thera-Paws on his feet, instead of dragging and limping down the street, Henry was trotting! Because Henry now always wears his Thera-Paws whenever we are out walking and jogging (I am now able to jog with him again!), the Thera-Paws protect his feet and prevent the recurrence of corns. ''Cassidy, who was 12 years old when the picture was taken, has recurring planters warts that grow deep within the paw pad. His Thera-Paw boots give the needed cushioning to aid his walking on sidewalks and roadways. The best features of the Thera-Paws is the special cushioning material and the rugged sole that will not wear through on concrete as other paw protectors do. Cassidy has had three operations for these warts. We plan to use the Thera-Paws along with an NSAID until he can no longer walk, have them again surgically removed, then use the Thera-Paws as he recuperates. "
